The Challenge We Faced
When Sienna began her education, it quickly became apparent that she faced significant challenges.
Her reception teacher recognised her struggles and advocated for the support she needed, but the reality in many mainstream schools is a lack of funding and resources, often leading to concerns being overlooked.
As Sienna progressed through school, she became increasingly marginalised, overshadowed by both high-achieving students and those who disrupted the classroom.
This experience was heartbreaking for us as parents, and we fought tirelessly to secure an education plan that would provide her with the support she desperately needed.
It took a formal complaint and persistent advocacy to finally receive the help she required, illustrating the urgent need for dedicated resources in the educational system.

After enduring years of frustration and inadequacy, we discovered Thriftwood School. It became clear that this was a place where Sienna would not just be another name on a roster, but a valued student with unique gifts. The moment we learned that Sienna had been offered one of the limited spaces in her year group, we felt an immense sense of relief and gratitude.
Since joining Thriftwood, Sienna has blossomed. She has gained confidence, developed new skills, and been empowered to take on leadership roles, such as captaining her girls' football team.
